BACKGROUND
Australian born, Pedro grew up on a farm in a small village (pop. 30) in the western NSW outback. He strongly believes it was this remote environment that gave him the resilliant, can-tackle-anything attitude that he carries into his work today.

Fast forward to 2010, while stepping away from a 13-year career as an Art Director in advertising, Pedro's arts career began when Australia Council for the Arts awarded him a 12-month residency with Sydney Dance Company under the Digital Arts Era program. The resulting body of work became the subject of case studies and educational programs in the Australian arts sector, culminating in Pedro being invited to lecture and host workshops at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum. Pedro has since been invited to talk at many creative industry events to discuss his creative process, critique and provide feedback on aspiring photographers' work, and run workshops.

In 2012, Pedro was the curator of VIVID Sydney's inaugural "Walsh Bay Arts Precinct Light Walk" - the southern hemisphere's largest arts festival that currently draws over 1.5 million visitors each year. The new walk included 14 sculptural light installations in Sydney's performing arts district, and extended the festival to be the largest in VIVID's history in both geographical size and number of artworks. To date, five sculptural works of Pedro's have been exhibited at VIVID Sydney.

Within 18 months of taking up photography professionally, Sydney Opera House commissioned Pedro to hold a solo photography and short film exhibition in their foyers. The acclaimed exhibition, titled MEMENTO, was a huge success and secured his position as a highly sought after talent both locally and internationally.

Pedro's book appearances include MATICEVSKI: THE ELEGANT REBEL (Thames & Hudson, 2017), ONE LIFE (See Me Group, 2012), and Jonathan Jones: barrangal dyara (skin and bones) (Thames & Hudson, 2016) which included an exclusive 32-page photographic spread.

In 2020, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, Pedro spent most of his time on artistic film commissions in response to the ever changing circumstances. The first series, CUATRO, was created under and in response to the full lockdown restrictions in Australia at the time. After an online collaborative process with Pedro and Rafael Bonachela, the dancers and musicians were all filmed separately on sets built inside Sydney Dance Company's Wattle St studios.

Later that same year, Pedro was commissioned by the NSW Government to create a series of five films celebrating open public spaces in NSW. Forging connection with our home city and state and launching the NSW Government’s year-long Festival Of Place, Dance Locale celebrates, activates and promotes the beauty and diversity of public space in Greater Sydney and New South Wales.

Pedro was a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) until it closed it's doors in 2021, and a current Full Member of the Australian Cinematographer Society (ACS).
